Piano with Steve Lanzillotta – Local musician Steve Lanzillotta will perform on Sunday, April 3 at 2 p.m. Lanzillotta is a longtime local pianist from Hanover who has been playing solo piano—whether it’s the American songbook, standards, show tunes, jazz, ragtime, or popular—for 30 years.
Kat Kennedy – Singer-songwriter and guitarist Kat Kennedy will perform on Wednesday, April 6 at 4 p.m. As a student at the Berklee College of Music, she regularly performs at popular venues around Boston, playing a mix of original pop folk pieces in addition to songs by Johnny Cash, Bill Withers, Vance Joy and a variety of others.
Cause & Effect Wellness: The Paula Approach with Paula Sullivan – Paula Sullivan of Tai Chi of New England will teach tai chi classes on select Thursdays in April at 4:15 p.m. Dates include April 7, 14 and 28. Tai chi is a low-impact form of exercise that promotes stress reduction through gentle, fluid movements.
Opera on Tap Boston – Members of the performance group Opera on Tap Boston will perform on Saturday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. Their mission is to promote opera as a viable, living and progressive art form by taking it out of concert halls and bringing it to unexpected venues.
Kathleen Fahey presents “Wellesley: Then & Now” – Kathleen Fahey, Curator of the Wellesley Historical Society, will make a presentation entitled “Wellesley: Then & Now” on Tuesday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m. Fahey will use a variety of photographs from the Society’s archives to show how Wellesley has evolved over time.
“Delicious: A Food Cabaret” – We will welcome classically-trained singer and performer Vanessa Schukis for a performance of her acclaimed show “Delicious: A Food Cabaret” on Saturday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. Schukis has performed roles for a variety of prestigious opera and theatre companies, including Boston Lyric Opera, Utah Festival Opera, Opera Providence, New England Light Opera, Lyric Stage Company of Boston, Northeastern Repertory Theater and Boston Publick Theater.
Film critic to discuss ‘A Night at the Opera’ – Accomplished film critic Dan Kimmel will discuss Sam Wood’s 1935 film “A Night at the Opera,” starring Groucho Marx, Chico Marx, Harpo Marx and Kitty Carlisle, on Sunday, April 17 at 2:30 p.m. The author of seven books, Kimmel is former president of the Boston Society of Film Critics and former co-chair of the Boston Online Film Critics Association. Currently, he is the editor of the Jewish Advocate, a correspondent for Variety, and a film critic for NorthShoreMovies.net.
Jack Craig presents “American Musical Theatre History: The Early Days” – Performer and music historian Jack Craig will make a presentation entitled “American Musical Theatre History: The Early Days” on Tuesday, April 19 at 3 p.m.
Rodrigo Garciarroyo – Critically-acclaimed tenor Rodrigo Garciarroyo of the prestigious Piatigorsky Foundation will perform on Tuesday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. The Mexican-born singer has been the recipient of scholarships from the International Vocal Arts Institute (IVAI), the Martina Arroyo Foundation and the Olga Forrai Foundation to pursue training under such renowned artists as Joan Dornemann, Lucy Arner, César Ulloa, Mignon Dunn, Martina Arroyo, Sherill Milnes, Ira Siff, Anthony Laciura, Joan Patenaude-Yarnell and Enrique Patrón de Rueda.
James Michael – Vocalist James Michael will perform on Thursday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. Michael emulates the big baritone voices of his idols Howard Keel, John Raitt and Robert Goulet, and enjoys stirring up cherished memories with classic songs.
