The Cambridge School of Weston (CSW), a progressive, coeducational, day and boarding school for grades 9–12, recently honored Jane Moulding, outgoing Head of School, for her 17 years of advancing CSW’s mission as a leader in progressive education. The event was co-chaired by Sherrill Bounnell of Maynard and Amy Cody of Newton Highlands.
Nearly 400 guests attended the event, at which the Jane Moulding Fund for Leadership in Progressive Education (“Jane’s Fund”) was launched. The Jane Moulding Fund for Leadership in Progressive Education was created with a lead gift of $1 million by Diane Garthwaite to celebrate Jane’s wise and caring leadership of CSW. The Fund will show the community’s appreciation for Jane and demonstrate its support of incoming head Lise Charlier and future leaders of the school.
Several past Board chairs shared their own reflections, and guests enjoyed a dance and a spoken-word tribute. The performance, which featured alumni/ae, students, faculty, staff and friends, included live music and a slideshow that covered the timeline from Jane’s installment through to the present.
Moulding received a variety of gifts from community members, and several offered personal remarks. The event concluded with Abba’s “Dancing Queen,” which Moulding has commonly sung to the school at an all-school assembly.
“The Cambridge School of Weston is a beautiful place. It changed my life. I will never be the same again, because of the love and the joy that school brings to everyone. Thank you to everyone who was involved in this incredible event,” said Moulding.
A toast at the end of the evening captured the joy and pride as attendees reflected on the impact CSW has had on its community at large.
