Dover Rug & Home, offering the largest selection of fine floor coverings and window treatments in New England, is pleased to announce the construction on their new facility at 721 Worcester Street (Route 9) is in its last stages of construction. The new 30,000 square foot showroom, located at the former Fairway Bowling site, is the first new construction on Route 9 in Natick in over four years and is scheduled for completion the end of November.
Dover Rug & Home’s new venue will be a welcome change to the area, as it will bring in additional business to that section of Route 9. Their new location will include an exclusive “design center” specifically for interior designers and architects as well as an on-premise warehouse of carpets that guarantee installation within 24 hours from the time of purchase. To round out the “Dover” experience, Dover Rug & Home will also be launching a squash-fitness club to help inspire a healthy lifestyle.
The Sellew family opened Fairway Bowling on Route 9 in 1955 on a part of their family’s dairy farm. In 1955, Route 9 drew in a lot of tourists to Shoppers World in Framingham, one of the nation’s first destination shopping malls. Back then, business was booming at Fairway Bowling but in the last decade they have seen a steady decline, which led to their closing in May. Helen Sellew was thrilled when Dover Rug & Home offered to purchase the facility. “Ms. Sellew herself expressed how delighted she was that our business was interested in taking over this space,” state Mahmud Jafri, owner of Dover Rug & Home. “I’ve known Ms. Sellew for years and have the greatest respect for her and her family. I offered to incorporate the Fairway name into our business name but she said that was not necessary. She said she always admired the way Dover Rug & Home did business and was thrilled that such an honorable and good business would be taking over the space.” Jafri continues, “I told her it was our honor to have her blessing.”
The recipient of the “Best of Boston Home 2011” award, Dover Rug & Home is also the proud sponsor of more than fifty charitable organizations each year and has received the CNC Reader’s Choice award for ‘Best Carpet Store’ ten years in a row. Previously nominated for the Retailer of the Year Award, Dover is an Industry Partner to the American Society of Interior Designers, and a member of the International Furnishing and Design Association (IFDA) and the World Floor Covering Association.
