Wellesley Books, located at 82 Central Street in Wellesley, will celebrate children’s art and education throughout March by hosting events as part of National Youth Art Month. Youth Art Month (YAM) provides an opportunity to recognize young artists, as well as celebrate the ways we can teach our children about art. The bookstore will be hosting readings, student art exhibitions, and craft activities, as well as highlighting some of our favorite art books in the store throughout the month! Select classes at Lilja Elementary School in Natick, Sprague Elementary School in Wellesley, and Tenacre Country Day in Wellesley will be participating in our student art exhibitions.
ABOUT YOUTH ART MONTH
Youth Art Month is an annual observance each March to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs. It provides a forum for acknowledging skills that are fostered through experience in the visual arts that are not possible in other subjects offered in the curriculum. For more information, see the informational booklet at http://www.acminet.org/YAM%20Booklet.pdf
