S+H Construction to Present “Your Old House: The Challenges of Historic Renovation”
at the 2014 Ellis Boston Antiques Show
S+H Construction – proud sponsor of the 2014 Ellis Boston Antiques Show – is pleased to present “Your Old House: The Challenges of Historic Renovation,” a Q&A-focused seminar on the challenges historic homeowners face when restoring an historic property. The seminar takes place 2:00PM on Saturday, October 25th at The 2014 Ellis Boston Antiques Show, Cyclorama, Boston Center for the Arts and is FREE with the purchase of a ticket to the show.
The goal is of this presentation is to educate both historic homeowners and prospective historic home buyers on how to remain true to the home’s original glory and still make it functional for contemporary living. Moderated by Kyle Hoepner, editor of New England Home Magazine, the panel of experts includes Doug Hanna, president of S+H Construction and Sarah Lawson, S+H project manager; Andrew Sidford, principal of Andrew Sidford Architects, and Greg Galer, executive director of the Boston Preservation Alliance.
“We are so fortunate the Boston area has one of the richest and largest collections of historic residential architecture in the country,” states Hanna. “There are many challenges associated with bringing these gems back to their original glory, but the outcome is worth it. We’ve put together a panel of experts with first-hand experience working on historic properties. They will share their knowledge and answer questions; guests are encouraged to bring photos and enjoy a lively exchange of ideas.”
THE ELLIS BOSTON ANTIQUES SHOW, October 23-26, 2014 is Boston’s oldest and newest antiques tradition, features 40 exhibitors of the highest quality from the United States and Europe offering antiques, jewelry, fine art, silver, antiquities, rare maps, prints and more.
The Gala Preview on Thursday evening October 23rd benefits the Ellis Memorial and is presented by BNY Mellon Wealth Management. The show hours are Friday, October 24th from 1pm-8pm, Saturday, October 25th 11am-8pm, and Sunday, October 26th 11am-5pm.
