Educator Dr. Steve Perry and Musical Historian Lawrence “Larry” Watson will join the Babson Community on February 23rd to celebrate the contributions and historic impact African Americans have had on our nation.
Dr. Steve Perry will deliver a thought-provoking discussion about the social issues that build both the individual and the community. Featured in CNN’s Black in America series, Dr. Perry is the most talked about innovative educator on the scene today. He is founder and principal of what U.S. News and World Report has cited as one of the top schools in the country, Capital Preparatory Magnet School in Hartford, Connecticut. Capital Prep has sent 100% of its predominantly low-income, minority, first generation high school graduates to four-year colleges every year since its first class graduated in 2006.
Lawrence “Larry” Watson entertains and educates audiences about the life, music, and history of some of the world’s most engaging musical figures who have created, shared and lived history with their voices, vision, and ability to deliver messages of the heart, mind and soul.
A conversation with Perry and a performance by Watson will be followed with buffet lunch of African American and Caribbean Cuisine to top off the day’s festivities from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Sorenson Center for the Arts.
