On Thursday, March 31, 2016, the Wellesley Free Library Foundation hosted their GALA, the Foundation’s single largest fundraiser. The bi-annual event gathers over 275 supporters to celebrate our Library and raise critical funds to ensure our library remains a leader among libraries. We were particularly fortunate to have author and historian, Doris Kearns Goodwin join us as our evening’s featured speaker.
Known as “America’s Historian-in-Chief,” Ms. Goodwin is the author of six New York Times best-selling books, including her most recent, The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism. Locally, she is most famous for being the first woman to enter the Boston Red Sox locker room. A devoted fan of the World Series-winning team, she is also author of Wait Til’ Next Year, a memoir of growing up in love with her family and baseball.
We were honored to have the support of First Republic Bank as our Presenting Sponsor.
