Wellesley Theatre Project is now accepting registrations for its Virtual Summer sessions open to all students 2nd through 12th grade. WTP will be offering Professional Workshops, Dance Workshops, Private Lessons, One-Week Camps, “Zoomsical” Cabarets, and Virtual Plays.

Specialized Professional Artist Workshops will be offered all summer long, and include Broadway and touring performers and theatre professionals! Many will include the opportunity for students to perform for these professionals and receive feedback. Professionals will include Michael James Scott (Aladdin on Broadway), Jessica Rush (Dear Evan Hansen), and more!

WTP is offering weekly Dance Workshops with talented choreographers dancing to songs from shows you love including Six, the Musical, Matilda, Mean Girls, Seussical, Hadestown, A Chorus Line, Bring It On, Hairspray, and The Prom

Wellesley Theatre Project is happy to continue offering eight-week private lessons in Acting, Dance, and Voice. These one-on-one lessons, will give students the opportunity to build and improve their skills.

In addition WTP is offering One-Week Theatre Arts Camps in different themes including Head To Hogwarts, Discover Disney, Shakespeare Boot Camp, Heroes and Villains, and Fractured Fairy Tales.

WTP’s Production Camps are also shifting online with “Zoomsical” Cabarets of Annie, Newsies, and Footloose. These programs will take place virtually using both Zoom and Flipgrid platforms. Zoom will allow students to check in and connect with the teacher and their peers each morning. While together “virtually,” they will partake in group music and choreography rehearsals with their cast. After the group portion, students will move into Flipgrid to continue their learning and complete activities each day. During this time they may pop back in for additional scheduled Zoom sessions with the creative team as needed. Each day will end on zoom with students connecting back with their cast-mates and recapping what they worked on. Each of these Cabaret Camps will end in a “Zoomsical” presentation, mixing live and recorded performances by the students.

WTP will be adding audition only Virtual Plays to the Summer Camp line up including C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Neil Simon’s Rumors. These programs will take place virtually using mainly the Zoom platform, and occasionally Flipgrid. Zoom will allow students to work with their director and cast-mates on a full production, ending in live Zoom performances.

Wellesley Theatre Project is a nonprofit devoted to providing students with the opportunity to study and experience theatre and performing arts through classes, staged productions, private lessons, workshops and summer camps. WTP empowers youth with life skills learned through exceptional performing arts education, and then challenges them to become Citizen Artists – improving the quality of life in their local and global community by emphasizing collaboration, cultural and social understanding.
