Wellesley Volunteers today announced the first Wellesley Volunteer Fair. Co-sponsored by the Wellesley Free Library, the Volunteer Fair will take place on Sunday, October 14th from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. The Volunteer Fair will be organized in a manner similar to a job fair, with multiple municipal and non-profit organizations attending. Interested volunteers will be able to meet with these organizations and learn more about the volunteer opportunities that are available.
Organizations currently scheduled to participate in the Fair include: Wellesley Friendly Aid, Wellesley Free Library, Wellesley Youth Commission, Wellesley Council on Aging, Springwell, SPIN (Stray Pets in Need), REACH Beyond Domestic Violence, the Wellesley Trails Committee, Samariteens, Wellesley Symphony Orchestra, Wellesley Media Corporation, Wellesley Historical Society, Sustainable Wellesley, Foundation for MetroWest , Wellesley Girl Scouts and iTN Greater Boston. There are still a few slots open for Wellesley-based non-profit or municipal organizations. Interested organizations should contact Megan Burns at wellesleyvolunteers@gmail.com or at 781-237-1230.
“The Volunteer Fair should be a wonderful opportunity for organizations in Wellesley to meet with town residents and educate them about their missions and the volunteer positions that they need to fill. Recently ranked in the top 150 ZIP codes for philanthropy by The Chronicle of Philanthropy, Wellesley is a town filled with people willing to give back, with both their time and money. This event will be a great way to help match interested volunteers with the organizations that need them,” said Megan Burns, Marketing Coordinator of Wellesley Volunteers.
About Wellesley Volunteers
Wellesley Volunteers is an initiative designed to bring together Wellesley residents interested in volunteering with Wellesley charitable and other nonprofit organizations or municipal departments and agencies that need volunteers. By utilizing an external website, Wellesley Volunteers will enable these groups to publicize their requirements for volunteers and will provide these individuals with a central source at which to find meaningful volunteer opportunities. Wellesley Volunteers was created by a grant from the Fund for Wellesley to promote volunteerism in the town of Wellesley. The grant, prepared by the Wellesley Volunteers Task Force, is being administered by Wellesley Friendly Aid.
