Summer is the season of flowers–ideally flowers that last all summer long, and for me there is no finer flower than the rose. Yet for many of you roses seem to be at the bottom of the list as they are thought to be pest and disease ridden and require too much attention. You may also think that when they are not in flower, their form isn’t as elegant as other shrubs. Okay, I’ll give you that  last point. But, when in bloom, rose bushes are simply the most liscious and bodacious residents of the summer garden, and everyone should have at least one.
