Divine Kitchens won two awards for the fourth year in a row at the 2010 Contractor of the Year (COTY) Awards from the National Association of Remodeling Industries (NARI). Divine won Gold for Kitchen Design $100K and above and Silver for Kitchen Design $50K-$100K.

“We are extremely pleased with this recognition,” said Mariette Barsoum, CKD, owner and design director for Divine Kitchens. “While the awards were for kitchen design, both projects included uniting elements of the entire first floor of the homes and creating more light-filled spaces. These were challenging and rewarding projects. These awards are the icing on the cake.”

The Gold award-winner, inside a local Cape-style home, required an entire floor plan redesign to include better organization, relocation of a back door, design of a definitive baking area in the kitchen, opening and lightening the space, a new island design and more. A load-bearing wall was removed and replaced with supportive columns to add more light to the space. With an ecologically conscious sensibility, Divine’s team worked to reuse all windows and doors removed in the project.

The Silver COTY award-winner, located in a 10-year-old Northborough, MA colonial, gave new life to an outdated laminate counter kitchen by removing a useless peninsula, incorporating new materials and professional-style appliances and granting the homeowner’s wish of a built-in furniture-style hutch for linens and other tabletop supplies. A combination of warm cherry and painted woods, antique bronze accents, and a unique message center comprised of a framed wall over magnetic paint, all come together into a handsome first floor living space.

Divine Kitchens has a showroom in Linden Square in Wellesley and a second location on Lyman Street in Westborough. Showroom consultations are complimentary.
