Wellesley Books is excited to host Deb Perelman, author of the wildly popular cooking blog Smitten Kitchen, for a cooking demonstration and book signing at the Miele Gallery in Wellesley. She will be celebrating her beautiful new cookbook The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook. Come meet Deb and see her prepare one of her signature dishes. She’ll be taking questions from the audience and signing books! We’ll be serving delicious samples, coffee, and beverages for all those attending. Join us for this unique and intimate event!

ABOUT THE BOOK

The Smitten Kitchen, in its current physical incarnation, is a puny 42 square foot circa-1935 sort of half-galley kitchen with a 24 foot footprint, a single counter, tiny stove, checkered floor and a noisy window at the end to the avenue below.

Each recipe has a story and there are cooking tips interspersed throughout. The book will is 85 percent new material and 15 percent favorites from the site that will be retested, reworked and streamlined for modern times. The recipes in the U.S. and Canadian editions will have measurement in cups and spoons, and also weights. Hooray!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Deb Perelman is a self-taught home cook, photographer and the creator of the Smitten Kitchen website, a blog with a focus on stepped-up home cooking through unfussy ingredients. In previous iterations of her so-called career, she’s been a record store shift supervisor, a scrawler of “happy birthday” on bakery cakes, an art therapist and a technology reporter. She likes her current gig – the one where she wakes up and cooks whatever she feels like that day – the best. Deb has over 96,000 FaceBook hits and lives in New York City with her husband and delicious baby son.
