Habitat for Humanity – MetroWest/Greater Worcester (HFH-MWGW) and Lowe’s are teaming up for a second annual “Women Build” event on May 1st and 2nd in Millbury, MA.  At the build site, 41 MacArthur Drive, construction is underway on the 30th house to be built by this Habitat affiliate since its founding 25 years ago.

The Women Build program was established by Habitat for Humanity International to encourage the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat homes.  With Lowe’s as the national Women Build Sponsor, women crews have already built more than 800 Habitat homes in the U.S. and a dozen other countries.

The purpose of this program is to nurture, recruit and train women to build simple, decent affordable homes for low-income families who need a safe place to live.  It is a two-day fundraising event which will host 80 women volunteers who each have made a minimum pledge of $100.  The build teams will work in two shifts of 20 women each.

Registration for the Women Build day event is limited to the first 40 participants for each day on a first-come, first-served basis.  Women interested in participating can register online at http://gwhfh.volunteerhub.com or call Chrisy Jones at (508) 799-9259 Ext. 118.
