The Arts and Humanities Division and the Sorenson Center for the Arts present The Class (Entre les Murs), directed by Laurent Cantet (2008), the latest film in the Babson Global Film Series.

Winner of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, The Class is an absorbing journey into a multicultural high school in Paris over the course of a school year. François Begaudeau–an actual teacher and the author upon whose autobiographical book the film was based—plays himself, and an ensemble of young non-actors recreate the charged atmosphere of a classroom that is a microcosm of contemporary, culturally diverse France. Combining the suspense of a drama with the immediacy of a social documentary, The Class is a funny and moving look at adolescent lives and at an educational system to alternately inspires and alienates them.

The film will be screened in the Sorensen Center for the Arts and will include a brief introduction and post-film discussion. Films are free and open tothe Babson community and the general public. For more information, contact Kay Sorenson at 781-239-5622.
