New Social Media Site Creates Community for Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend to be Held May 18-19, 2013
The Wellesley Celebrations Committee has launched a Facebook social media site dedicated to news about the upcoming Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend, May 18th and 19th. The url is https://www.facebook.com/WellesleyWeekend
Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend — spearheaded by more than a hundred volunteer and civic organizations — culminates in the Annual Veterans’ Parade and Fireworks. It is the largest annual town gathering held each year.
“Given the large numbers of people participating in the events, it make sense to use social media to better share and communicate together before and during the weekend,” said Carl Nelson, member of the Wellesley Celebrations Committee.
Thousands of residents will join together at the Fireworks on Sunday, May 19, provided this year by Roche Bros. and Drs. Ali and Ali of Wellesley Dental Group.
Ninety percent of the money to fund the weekend events is from private donations. This year, Roche Bros. and Wellesley Dental Group are the Platinum Sponsors. Other local business organizations supporting the events include Haynes Management, Larry Ng’s Auto Repair and Whole Foods Market. Many individual residents donate as well.
