The Wellesley Dental Group announced that it will be teaming up with the Wellesley Community Center by hosting a community blood donation drive on February 17 at the Wellesley Community Center. The drive, held in cooperation with the American Red Cross, aims to collect at least 50 units of lifesaving blood.
Dr. Femina Ali, owner of Wellesley Dental Group, said that the drive was a way to support the American Red Cross’ work in communities in the area as well as across the country. “Millions of people in need are helped by the critical blood donations provided by American Red Cross,” said Dr. Ali. “We are delighted to sponsor this event with this incredible organization and have the opportunity to help our fellow Americans through this blood drive.”
Members of the public are invited to attend. Donors with the following blood types are invited to donate by the Red Cross’ double red cell technology (2RBC): O- , O+, A- , B-. There are height and weight requirements, more information is available here.
Date: Friday, February 17th, 2017
Time: 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Venue: Wellesley Community Center, Babson Hall, 219 Washington St, Wellesley
Prospective donors can also pre-register by visiting www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code WellesleyCC or click HERE. Donors can also complete pre-reading and health history questions online at Red Cross RapidPass and print out the form on the day of the blood drive.
Note: The American Red Cross is closely monitoring the Zika virus. We ask that you not to donate if any Zika Virus exposures apply to you. (Puerto Rico, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, Miami, Dade and Broward Counties, Florida) Donate blood four weeks after your last risk exposure.
Please bring picture identification and remember to eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of fluids before donating.
