Wellesley Theatre Project invites you to join us in the jungle
Wellesley Theatre Project (WTP) will present the musical, Disney’s JUNGLE BOOK, KIDS! Friday, July 11 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, July 12 at 2:00 PM. All performances will take place at the Wellesley High School Auditorium, 50 Rice Street, Wellesley. Tickets are priced $12 for adults and $6 for students and seniors, and may be purchased online at www.wellesleytheatreproject.org in advance, or at the door for $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
Specially adapted from the 1967 film, Disney’s JUNGLE BOOK, KIDS! includes all your favorite Disney tunes, like “The Bare Necessities” and “I Wan’na Be Like You”. In this classic Disney story Mowgli, a human boy on the run in the jungle from a ferocious tiger Shere Khan is aided by a panther named Bagheera. Along the way, they meet up with a snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants, a band of monkeys led by King Louie, and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin’ musical rhythms of the jungle.
A talented cast and crew of 30 Summer Production Camp students between the ages of six and fourteen bring to life the characters of the jungle. Cast members of Disney’s JUNGLE BOOK, KIDS! reside in Wellesley as well as neighboring communities including, Needham, Newton, Waban, Lexington, Sherborn, West Roxbury, and Concord.
Disney’s JUNGLE BOOK, KIDS! production staff includes: Hannah Shihdanian, Director and Resident Choreographer; James Murphy, Musical Director; Peter Waldron, Set Designer; and Haley Vigil, Costume Designer. The music and lyrics are by Richard M. Sherman, Robert B. Sherman, and Terry Gilkyson. Additional lyrics by Marcy Heisler. Book adapted by Marcy Heisler. Music adapted and arranged by Bryan Louiselle.
Wellesley Theatre Project is an arts academy and a Wellesley nonprofit devoted to providing students (PreK – 12th Grade) with the opportunity to study and experience theatre and performing arts through year round classes, staged productions, workshops and summer camps.
Registration is open for WTP’s 2014 Summer Camps. The summer sessions continue with two production camps geared for students between 2nd and 12th grade in addition to 1-week morning Theatre Arts camps for Pre K-1st grade. The production camps are: Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr. (Grades 2-12), and Pippin, the Musical (School Edition) (Grades 9-12).
