The Residences at Wingate, Needham’s only 5-star senior living community, today announced a free day of crafts, souvenir photos, fun and lunch for all ages so that families can Make Memories together. On Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 11 am – 3 pm, individuals will be able to partake in painting a keepsake pottery mug, chocolate mold decorating using edible paints, dog toy making, souvenir photos, a buffet lunch and more.

“We’re encouraging people of all ages and their grandparents to do these activities together, but many people are also coming to make things in memory of their grandparents who have passed,” said Maria Lastoria, Executive Director for The Residences at Wingate. “This event is about celebrating the generations and the important role they play in our lives.”

Created out of a Presidential Proclamation by President Obama, National Grandparents Day is celebrated the first Sunday after Labor Day. It helps children honor grandparents and understand and appreciate the contributions of older citizens, while providing the opportunity for grandparents to show their love and support for their grandchildren.

To make these activities possible, The Residences at Wingate has partnered with several MetroWest businesses including Chocolate Therapy in Dedham and Framingham, Knots of Fun in Framingham and PYOP Studio in Northborough.

Recently named the Region’s #1 Retirement Living Residence by Hometown Weekly readers, The Residences at Wingate is located adjacent to the Wingate at Needham skilled care center at 235 Gould Street offering hospitality and healthcare all on one campus. The luxurious 91-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community offers a number of sought-after amenities including leased apartments with underground parking, restaurant-style and outdoor dining, a Wellness Center, start-of-the-art security and much more in a modern setting.

Making Memories will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 11 am – 3 pm. To RSVP or for more information, call (781) 455-9080.
