Let’s Get Ready, which helps high school students through the college application process and supports them after graduation, will recognize Eastern Bank Chairman and CEO Richard E. Holbrook at its annual Fall Benefit. His efforts promoting education in smaller towns and cities will be featured at the Let’s Get Ready Fall Benefit on Oct 8, 2014 at the Boston Harbor Hotel.

“Rich has a deep understanding of the challenges facing families today — not just the cost of tuition but the need for student internships, concerns of traveling to college out of state and charting your own career path,” said Nakia Navarro, New England regional director for Let’s Get Ready. “This is a chance to say thank you and spotlight his accomplishments and Eastern Bank’s work in education.”

In 2013, the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation awarded more than $5 million in grants. It also has contributed to the growth of Let’s Get Ready, a non-profit group that has has expanded service to new high schools in Vermont and New Hampshire. LGR has grown its mission over more than a decade to include helping students transition to college and completion of their degree.

Most LGR students are first-in-their family to attend college and come from lower-income or first-generation immigrant families.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by Let’s Get Ready, a leader in student education and college preparatory services,” said Holbrook. “Eastern Bank is committed to supporting education and organizations such as Let’s Get Ready, which provides a valuable resource to young students living in the communities we serve.”

In 2014, the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation will donate more than $1 million to organizations that strive to improve the quality of education for children in kindergarten through Grade 12.
