Needham Bank Teams Up with Wellesley Recreation to Provide Outdoor Ice Rinks

Needham Bank, with a location on 458 Washington St. in Wellesley, is proud to announce its support of The Wellesley Recreation and the services they provide to the community. Through a donation, the Bank was instrumental in providing the funding for three public ice rinks. Located across from Wellesley High School, the rinks have already provided countless hours of outdoor activity for families, students and residents.

Needham Bank’s donation supported the rinks in 2014 and again for the 2015 season, which began the weekend of January 10th. The rinks have received improvements for 2015, with two larger rinks for hockey and one smaller one for young children to skate recreationally. Through the support they’ve received from Needham Bank, the Recreation Department has also been able to add lighting to extend the time the rinks can be used. This successful program has run for 9 years and provides Wellesley families with a safe outdoor activity for the winter months.

Jan Kaseta, Director of Wellesley Recreation, remarked that “establishing partnerships with local businesses is essential in building a strong community. The Recreation Department’s partnership with Needham Bank allows us to provide activities and programs that enable us to work towards our goal of building a stronger community. We value our relationship with Needham Bank and hope to continue providing new opportunities for our community. “

“We’re delighted to continue partnering with Wellesley Recreation in 2015. We appreciate all of the wonderful activities they provide to the community,” said Eric Morse, Senior Vice President at Needham Bank. He continued, “As a community bank, we are dedicated to supporting local organizations in the towns we serve and Wellesley is no different. We truly enjoy this important partnership.”

Bill Darcey, member of Needham Bank’s Advisory Council, added “My son and his friends are always looking for a fun winter activity near home and the rinks have been great for that. I’m so appreciative that the Town of Wellesley has such a strong community partner in Needham Bank.”
