Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH) Charitable Foundation’s 16th Annual event, The Stork Club Gala, will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Westin Copley Place in Boston. The event will benefit Newton-Wellesley Hospital’s Obstetrics Program. The evening, designed by Rafanelli Events, will include cocktails, silent & live auctions, and dinner and dancing.  Entertainment will be provided by Carte Blanche, a NYC based 6-piece jazz band featuring 20s 30s and 40s classic American, French and Latin jazz.  Interspersed throughout the evening will be specialty performers from the Elan Artists agency. Year in and year out, this event is one of Boston’s largest and most successful fundraisers, with over 750 guests expected.

Newton-Wellesley Hospital is proud of its long tradition of providing excellent care for mothers and their newborns dating back to 1890 when the first child was born at the Hospital. Under the leadership of Thomas L. Beatty, MD, the obstetrics program is a clinical collaboration with Brigham and Women’s Hospital and has experienced tremendous growth. Annually, close to 4,500 babies are born at NWH, making it the third largest birthing site in Eastern Massachusetts and the fourth largest in the state.  Growth will approach 4,800 births this year as more and more families come to rely on the excellent, individualized care delivered by the medical staff, nurse midwives, and nursing staff.

Twelve spacious and private rooms were recently constructed in a new Mother and Baby Unit dedicated to postpartum care, expanding the capacity by 33%. “Our fundraising goal for this evening is to raise $1,000,000, which will help with the costs of these expanded and vital areas and programs,” said Joan Archer, president, NWH Charitable Foundation.
